TH Khan’s death SC suspends Monday’s judicial proceedings to mourn

Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique on Monday suspended all the judicial proceedings of the High Court and the Appellate Divisions of the Supreme Court to mourn the death of senior advocate Md Tafazzal Hossain Khan (TH Khan).
Md Ali Akbar, Registrar General of the
 Supreme Court, issued a notification to this effect yesterday morning.
Former lawmaker and also former High Court Division Judge TH Khan died in a hospital at Kalyanpur in the capital Dhaka on Sunday afternoon. He was 102.
A namaz-e-janaza of former Justice TH Khan was held on the Supreme Court Bar Association’s premises at about 12:00 pm after his body was brought there from his residence at Mohammadpur area.
Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, other judges of the Appellate Division and High Court Division, Supreme Court Bar Associations’ present and former leaders and other Supreme Court lawyers attended the namaz-e-janaza.
Before starting the janaza, TH Khan’s eldest son and former MP Afzal H Khan delivered a commemorative speech. Then Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal, Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association, spoke on the occasion.
At the end of the janaza, floral wreaths were placed on the coffin of the deceased on behalf of the Chief Justice, Attorney General’s Office, Supreme Court Bar Association, Nationalist Lawyers’ Forum, Law Reporters Forum and other social and political organizations.
His body was scheduled to be taken to Oity village of Haluaghat upazila under Mymensingh district on Monday. But his body will be buried on Tuesday (today) after two other janazas at Haluaghat.
