A terrorist was killed in shootout with police at Kanapukuria village under Shailkupa upazila in Jhenidah on Monday early hours.
The police seized arms and ammunitions from his possession after the said gun fight.
The deceased was identified as Manirul Islam, 35, son of Sahaidul Islam of Nityanandapur village under Kushtia sadar upazila.
Sailkupa police station officer in charge Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury said, they were informed that a gang of terrorists were gathered at Kanapukurai village under Sailkupa upazila at about 3.00 AM on Monday.
Acting on a tip off, a contingent of police raided the Kanapukuria village. Sensing the police presence, the terrorists opened fire shots targeting the law enforcers. Police replied the firing that continued for about 15 minutes.
At one stage the terrorists repatriated from the scene. Police found the body of Manirul and sent to Jhenidah sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy. The police had seized a shutter gun, one round of bullet and a sword from the possession of Manirul.
A case was filed with Shialkupa police station in this connection, the OC added.
