Lewis hits maiden ton: Terrific victory for Barisal Bulls

A maiden century by Ewin Lewis powered Barisal Bulls to achieve a terrific nine-wicket victory over Dhaka Dynamites in their Twenty20 cricket match of the 3rd Bangladesh Premier League at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Tuesday.
Lewis made the first century in the 3rd Bangladesh Premier League. He remained unbeaten with 101. His 65-ball typhoon innings was ornamented with six huge sixes and seven fours.
Sent into bat first, Dhaka Dynamites scored 158 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Barisal Bulls sailed home making 159 for the loss of one wicket when they had eight balls to spare.
Rony Talukdar and Ewin Lewis, the two openers of Barisal Bulls made an excellent start as they contributed 127 runs before Rony Talukdar was caught at the extra cover by Lahiru Thrimanne off Abul Hasan. Talukdar scored 38 off 34 balls.
Then Lewis and Mehedi Maruf contributed 32 runs in the unbroken second wicket stand.
Mehedi Maruf remained unbeaten with 15.
Dhaka Dynamites lost their early four wickets for 73 runs.
In-form Kumar Sangakkara and Ryan ten Doeschate build a notable partnership. They put on together 59 runs for the fifth wicket stand.
Kumar Sangakkara cracked a superb 60. He hit seven fours in his 47-ball innings before he was caught at the mid-wicket by Mehedi Maruf off Kevin Cooper when Dhaka’s Total was 132 for the loss of five wickets.
Doeschate remained unbeaten with 45. His 32-ball stormy knock was studded with three sixes and one four.
Kevin Cooper and Seekkuge Prasanna of Dhaka Dynamites played the key role to mop up the middle order of Dhaka’s innings.
Opener Saikat Ali (15) was caught behind by Rony Talukdar off Kevin Cooper when Dhaka’s score was 27 for the loss of one wicket.
Then Lahiru Thirimanne ( 5) was stumped out by Rony Talukdar off Mahmudullah Riyad when Dhaka’s total was 42 for the loss of two wicket.
After departure of Thirimanne, Nasir Hossain (5) was caught by Mahmudullah Riyad off Prasanna when Dhaka’s total was 64 for the loss of three wickets.
Then Abul Hasan was stumped out by Rony Talukdar off Prasanna when Dhaka’s total was 73 for the loss of four wickets.
Prasanna and Kevin Cooper begged a couple of wickets each for 23 and 30 runs respectively.
