DU Correspondent :
A group of teachers of the Arabic department of the Dhaka University on Wednesday urged the university administration to sack Professor Dr ATM Fakhruddin for his alleged involvement in embezzlement of students’ money by way of deception.
They demanded it while addressing a press conference in the Arabic department’s seminar room in the DU Arts building at noon.
In a written statement here, DU Professor Dr Mohammad Yousuf alleged that Professor Fakhruddin embezzled students’ money refusing to give them back their money after he failed
to keep his promise of sending them abroad for higher studies. “So, we demand his sacking as early as possible” he said.
Among others, DU Arabic department Professor Jahirul Islam, Belal Hossen, Nasir Uddin and Associate Professor Maruf Hossein were also present at the conference.
Contrarily, ATM Fakhruddin told journalists that the pro-government teachers of the department were hatching conspiracy against him, as he had protested earlier against Mohammad Yousuf’s selection as chairman of the department.
On Tuesday, the students of the Arabic department also brought out a procession in the department against Fakhruddin for deceiving them.
In 2012 also, the DU students demanded Fakruddin’s removal on the charge of sexually harassing a female student.
