Some 57 temporary workers of Railway East Zone, Chittagong are passing their livelihood in miserable condition as they are not getting salary and allowances for the 3 months.
Due to negligence of the authority , these temporary gatemen are not getting salaries whereas the Chief commercial Manager did not know this matter while asked. It is learnt, there are 136 level crossing in Chittagong Division where 90 gatemen are working only. Out of 90, permanent 33 and temporary 57 gatemen. Reliable sources said these temporary gatemen are not getting salary and other allowances since February last. It is learnt that the temporary gatemen are working on lump-sum salary of Tk.4500.00 per month.
While contacted the Divisional transportation officer Md. Zakir Hossain told that lack of timely budget formulation causes the delay of payment of these gatemen. Despite trying to contact the General Manager of East zone could not be connected over phone.
