The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday submitted a charge-sheet in the court against Deputy General Manager (DGM) Abul Kalam Azad and Assistant Manager (AM) (System Operation) S M Tareque Rahman of Teletalk Bangladesh Limited on charge of embezzling Tk 10 crore through converting a lot of phone calls.
ACC public relation officer confirmed it to The New Nation.
An ACC team conducted an investigation and presented a final report to the commission and recommended for framing
charge-sheet against the Teletalk officials. The commission after scrutiny of the report gave the approval under Prevention Corruption Act-1947’s Section No- 5(2) on Wednesday.
According to the report, the accused in collaboration with each other plundered Tk 10 crore between 2010 and 2011 by obliterating 12.81 lakh calls from the record book. The cost of each call is 0.76 taka.
They damaged all records and documents of the calls in order to hide their offence.
After conducting a primary inquiry, the ACC filed a case with Gulshan Police Station on October 10 in 2011.
