Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Kaisar Khasru has been made an officer on special duty (OSD) for using abusive language against journalist. Further action will be taken against him as per the directions of the court.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam told it to the media in the cabinet meeting on Monday.
Order has been issued to make him (Teknaf UNO) OSD. Further action will be taken against him as per the directions of the court, Cabinet Secretary added.
Earlier, the High Court (HC) said, “The words reportedly used by Teknaf UNO are objectionable, unfortunate and unacceptable. If this is accurate, his language is worse than that of a thug. The UNO should have used better terms being a government official.”
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat made the observation on Sunday.
According to Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik, UNO Kaisar has expressed regret for his behaviour with the journalist.
The court also wanted to know whether any step had been taken against the UNO.
