Tourist ship has resumed on the Teknaf-Saint Martin route in Cox’s Bazar after the warning signal was lifted.
BIWTA’s Teknaf Region Traffic Supervisor Zahir Uddin Bhuiyan said that seven ships carrying tourists left Teknaf Damdamiya Jetty for St. Martin’s at 9:30 am on Tuesday (February 22).On Sunday night the Cox’s Bazar district administration declared all types of shipping to St. Martin’s closed for one day.
Cox’s Bazar Additional District Magistrate Abu Sufian said shipping has been suspended for a day due to the issuance of warning signal No. 3 at Cox’s Bazar seaport..
Mujibur Rahman, chairman of St. Martin’s Island Union Parishad, said 4,000 tourists were stranded due to the sudden closure of the ship, but many left St. Martin on their own initiative with wooden trawlers and speedboats.
