Tejturi Bazar blast: One succumbs to injuries

A man who who was injured in an explosion at the capital’s Tejgaon East Tejturi Bazar on Friday night, died early Saturday while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Zikrullah Jitu (30) died in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital. His body suffered 64 percent burn, confirmed Opurbo Hasan, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station.Meanwhile, Yasin Taqlukder, 35, the other person injured in the blast, is currently receiving medical care at the same institute.
Yasin suffered 50 per cent burns and is in critical condition, said Inspector Bacchu Miah of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost.
The explosion occurred at around 9:30pm on Friday on the second floor of a six-storey building in the area, media reports quoted Fire Service official Dewan Azad as saying.
No explosives were found at the blast spot, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan told an online newspaper.
The authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the the explosion.
