The sudden rise of water again has created panic on the banks of the Teesta.
Sources at the Teesta Flood Control and Monitoring Center said, the water level in the Teesta River has risen due to the upstream slope and heavy rainfall. As a result, more than ten thousand families in ten unions have been trapped in water.
Meanwhile, the increase in water in four phases has created panic in the minds of the people. In particular, the local residents are in tension with the spruce number two of Vendabari Char of Jhunagacha Chapani Union, which is on the verge of collapse.
Abdul Latif Khan, chairman of East Chhatnai Union Parishad of said, that one thousand families along the Teesta River have been stranded due to sudden rise in water level. Especially the people of the char area have become water.
Tepakharibari Union Chairman Moinul Islam said people could not get out of their houses as the water was trapped. They are in dire straits. If the water does not decrease, they will be in danger.
Jhunagach Chapani Union Parishad Chairman Aminur Rahman said that 150 meters of Spar No. 2 of Vendabari Char broke. As a result, about 200 families lost their homes. Thousands of families are worried that the water level has risen again. If the dam cannot be protected, the people of the area will suffer.
Asfaudoula, executive engineer of the Water Development Board’s Dalia Division, said the water level in the upper reaches of the Teesta has risen.
