Teesta water crosses danger mark

Teesta River is flowing above danger level due to the surge of upstream water from the hills, inundating several villages close to the bank of the river.
About 5000 families have been marooned in the floodwater. At 12:00pm Friday, flow of the water was recorded 52.50 centimeters that means the river has been flowing 10 centimeters above the danger mark.
Normal height of water level is 52.40 centimeters. From 8am, River is flowing 10 centimeter above the danger level.
According to Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) of Teesta

 Barrage Water Development Board, Teesta water level has increased for the onrush of upstream water f since Thursday midnight.
All 44 gates of the country’s largest irrigation project had been opened to maintain the normal flow of river water. Water Development Board’s Dalia Division Executive Engineer Mostafizur Rahman said the water is flowing 10 centimetres above the danger level. We are trying to control overflow of water by keeping open the all of 44 gates of barrage. Lalmonithat deputy commissioner Habibur Rahman said information about the flood affected families has been collected through union parishad chairmen and Upazila Nirbahi Officers.
