Teenager shot dead in Faridpur clash

A teenage boy was shot dead and five other people were injured in a clash between two rival groups over establishing supremacy at Joypasha village in Boalmari upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Syed Nazim Ali, 17 of the village.
Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Boalmari Police Station, said Syed Abdur Rahman Bashar, former chairman of the upazila and Abu Syed Mia, a former UP member, had had long been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area. As a sequel to the enmity, an altercation ensued between the supporters of two groups around 8 am.
At one stage, both groups attacked each other triggering a fierce clash, leaving Nazim Ali dead on the spot.
On information, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
