Police have detained a teenage boy for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in Dhaka’s Keraniganj.
The 15-year-old boy was arrested from Namapara area on Saturday after the victim’s family filed a case, said OC Md Monirul Islam of South Keraniganj Police Station. The victim has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital
(DMCH), he said. Citing the case details, the OC told bdnews24.com that families of the teenage boy and the victim girl lived in the same house. On Friday, the boy took the child to the toilet and raped her there.
When the girl started screaming, locals rushed to the spot but the boy managed to escape.
The girl was taken to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital on Friday. A day later, she was shifted to the DMCH. “Doctors are carrying out tests on the child. If they find evidence of rape, the boy will be produced before court,” said OC Islam.
