The body of a teenage girl carried away by floodwaters has been recovered by locals in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya.
Another minor still remains missing. The body of 14-year-old Chamira Akhter was found at the Jalia Palong Union around 12pm, said Jalia Palong Union Parishad Chairman Nurul Amin Chowdhury. Chamira was the daughter of local resident Jafar Alam .A 13 -year-old boy from Ratna Palong Union is still missing.
Chamira’s home was one of the many homes in Cox’s Bazar’s low-lying areas that were flooded by heavy rains and thunderstorms on Wednesday.
“Chamira was carried away by the floodwaters as the family was travelling to a shelter that evening. A search was conducted, but no trace of her was found that night,” UP Chairman Chowdhury said.
