A 15-year girl reportedly was gang-raped by some local youths in Ganda area of Savar upazila in Dhaka district on Friday night.
The victim was admitted to the One-stop Crisis Center (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition.
Police arrested an alleged rapist from Sadhapur area of the upazila on Saturday morning. The youth was identified as Kalam Mia, 25, son of Jalal Mia, an inhabitant of the area, said Abu Seyed, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Savar Police Station.
Quoting the victim, the police official said, “A gang of miscreants led by local Kalam Mia picked up the girl forcibly after tying her mouth from Ganda area around 8:30 pm on Friday. They took the girl in a house and raped her overnight.”
Police rescued the victim girl from the house following information and sent her to the DMCH. They also arrested the one of the rapists Kalam from Sathapur area.
A case was filed in this connection with the police station.
