A teenage domestic help was found dead at a house at Fazilchisht in the city on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Jesmine, 16, daughter of Billal Uddin of Goainghat upazila.
Quoting house owner Omar Khaiyam, police said Jesmine had been working at Omar Khaiyam’s house as a domestic help for the last three years.
Omar Khaiyam along with his family went out from home on Thursday after keeping Jesmine under lock and key.
When they arrived home around 10:30 pm, they found Jesmine hanging from the ceiling of a room and informed the matter to police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Akbar Hossain Bhuiya, sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station.
