Police recovered the body of a teenage girl from a pond at Jaforabad Monipur village in Debidwar upazila of the district on Sunday evening, three days after she had reportedly gone missing.
The deceased was identified as Tahmina Akhtar, 16, daughter of Nurul Islam, a resident of Poramtala village in Muradnagar upazila of the district.
She had been living at her maternal grandfathers’ house at Tulgaon village of Debidwar upazila.
Witnesses said Tahmina had gone missing on last Thursday.
Later locals spotted the decomposed body of Tahmina on a pond in the afternoon and informed police.
Sub-Inspector of Debidwar police station Shohel Ahmed said on information they recovered the body and sent it to hospital for an autopsy.
Officer-in-charge of Debidwar police station Mizanur Rahman confirmed the incident.
