UNB, Madaripur :A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped by eight youths at Fakirkandi village in Rajoir upazila on Tuesday night.Locals said the youths picked up the victim on Tuesday evening while she was going to her grandmother’s house at Fakirkandi village from her Krishnapur home.The rowdy youths took the victim to a bush and raped her there one after another. Authorities say the smuggling of gold has spiked over the past two years – and that officials from Biman Bangladesh, the country’s national carrier – are often involved. Eleven local and international syndicates are reportedly trafficking the precious metal from Middle Eastern countries into Bangladesh, a part of which is later smuggled into neighbouring India, one of the world’s top gold importers, according to the officials.
