Teenage gang member among 14 held on murder charges

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) has arrested 14 people including seven of a teenage gang on charges of involvement in the murder of two sensational murder in the capital’s Mugda and Kadamtali areas.
They were arrested from Dhaka and its surrounding area on Sunday, DB’s Joint Commissioner (JC) Mahbub Alam said in a press briefing at DMP media center on Monday.
He said that the DB members are investigating after the two-murder incident. A teenage boy was hacked to death by the members of a teenage gang at Mugda in the capital on Friday evening.
The deceased was Hasan, a press employee at Paltan in Dhaka. He lived with his family in Mugda.
JC Mahbub said that Hassan has been killed in a senior-junior conflict. In primary interrogation we know that the incident took place due to non-salutation.
The arrested are from the “Bandage Group” of the area. All the arrestees are in the age group of 16-17 years. Police arrested a teenager soon after the incident, he added.
Meanwhile, a group of ‘drug peddlers’ allegedly stabbed to a police informer Zakir Hossain to death and left another one critically injured at Kadamtali in Dhaka on Wednesday.
While investigating the case, detectives arrested seven in charge of the murder.
The arrestees are-Md Sukkur, Nurul Islam Swapan, Md Ratan alias Solaiman alias Rambo, Shafiqur Rahman alias Dipu, Fahim Hasan Tanvir alias laden, Tariqul Islam Tarek, and Masud Parvez.
They are already accused in different cases filed with police stations in the city, said DMP deputy commissioner for Detective Branch (Wari division) Abdul Ahad.
In the briefing, DB’s JC Mahbub said that the arrestees are active members of an organized criminal group. They attacked the victims centering on the dominance of the area.
