A teenage boy was killed in Rangpur city on Thursday night after he was allegedly beaten and pushed under a running vehicle by miscreants. Demonstrations by agited people continue in front of Hospital morgue demanding justice.
The incident occurred in Textile crossing area of Rangpur city around 9:30pm on Thursday.
The victim identified as Abdur Rashid, 11, was a fifth grader and the son of one Shahidur Rahman from Satgara Mistri Para of the city.
According to deceased’s elder brother Mohon , few days ago a locally known criminal Mozaffer Hossaintried to extort Tk500 from me. I refused and complained to his father.
As revenge, Mozaffar killed my brother brutally.
Abdur Rashid’s aunt Nazma Begum said: “I was crossing the area at the time of the incident.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
Mohammad Rafiq, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Rangpur Kotwali Police Station confirmed the news to the media that the body will be handed over to the family after autopsy.”
