A teenage boy was killed and two persons were injured as a small boat capsized in the Shitalakkhya River in Siddhirganj after being hit by a bulkhead on Friday noon.
The deceased was identified as Shakil Miah, 17, son of Abdul Ali of SO Road area in Siddhirganj.
In-charge of Narayanganj river police camp Samsul Alam said the boat sank in the Dhakeshwari Kheyaghat after it was hit by the sand-laden bulkhead around 12 noon.
Although all passengers managed to swim ashore, Shakil went missing in the incident that also left two people injured, he said. Later,
divers from the Fire Service rushed in and recovered the body of the teenager. Police seized the bulkhead and arrested its eight inmates.
