A 15-year-old boy was arrested on Friday night for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in Jhenaigati upazila.
The suspect is a resident of the upazila’s Dupuria village.
“He went to the victim’s house around 10am on Thursday when her mother was out. He lured the girl with promises of giving her dates and raped her,” said Biplob Kumar Biswas, officer-in-charge of Jhenaigati Police Station.
When her mother returned, the child told her what had happened. When words about the incident
spread, the teenager fled his home. Locals detained him on Friday night when he came home and handed him over to police.
He has been shown arrested in a case filed by the victim’s mother.
