Technical Training Center to be installed in every upazila

Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad, MP, has said Technical Training Center (TTC) will be installed in every upazila of the country for enriching the sector of skilled workforce.
“We have a plan of sending 1,000 competent manpower to overseas markets from each of the upazilas every year. So, establishment of upazila level TTC is very important,” the minister said this on Friday while inaugurating a modernized and well-furnished building at TTC, Rajshahi as the chief guest. The building was installed under a four year project titled “Capacity Development Programme for TTC, Rajshahi”, which has been jointly implemented by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET).
A new academic building and a dormitory were established besides supplying of necessary training equipment and training among 18 instructors and six officers in Korea under the Taka 87.11-crore project to enhance the quality of vocational education.
KOICA provided Taka 67 crore as grant aid for the TTC in order to support the national initiative of Bangladesh government to strengthen the capacity of vocational training by increasing the quality of vocational education. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, MP, and Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the ceremony as special guests while Secretary of the ministry Selim Reja was in the chair. BMET Director General Shamsul Alam and Director of the project Dr Nurul Islam, KOICA Country Director Hyungue Joe and Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Hamidul Haque also spoke on the occasion.
Minister Imran Ahmed urged all concerned to reach message of the new installation to the grassroots population so that they can derive its total benefits.
He said step has taken to send competent manpower to overseas markets besides finding out new overseas job markets for boosting the earning for foreign remittance.
Minister Imran Ahmad added that the government is working to generate skilled manpower as they can earn more remittance than that of the unskilled ones and urged the authorities concerned to make sure that TTCs can generate skilled workforce.
He described the government’s decision to promote remittance inflow as significant through exporting manpower legally and urged the officials concerned to make people more aware about going to overseas markets legal way.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said vocational training is one of the key elements for the labor market to generator employment, to promote workers both personally and professionally. It is also factor in corporate competitiveness and the quality of service and goods. He hoped that the TTC will play a vital role in human resource development and help to reduce unemployment problem of the region.
