Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said the government is giving importance on technical education to turn the country’s huge population into skilled manpower.
“We have to transform the huge population into skilled manpower. The government is stressing on technical education to achieve this target,” the minister said this on Saturday while inaugurating a new building of Zamsed Ahmed High School at Beanibazar upazila in Sylhet.
“Higher education is not only for getting a certificate, but also for acquiring knowledge,” Nahid said, adding that a big change should be brought in the education system.
Education should not be confined to classrooms, the minister said and urged the new generation to get ready for taking the country forward.
“We will not remain the importer of knowledge and technologies from abroad forever, rather our world standard meritorious new generation will export these in near future,” he added.
He urged the students to be creative and utilize their innovative power in resolving their own problems through creating new knowledge.
Beanibazar Upazila Chairman Ataur Rahman Khan, Upazila Awami League (AL) President Abdul Hasib Mania and Organizing Secretary Ahmad Hossain Babul were present on the occasion, among others.
