North South University (NSU) in collaboration with NSU ACM Student Chapter (NSU ACM SC) organized closing ceremony of four-day grand national tech fest “Technovation 2.0” held at NSU on Monday at its own campus, Bashundhara in the capital. Technovation 2.0 is the signature event of NSU ACM Student Chapter. For the first time in the country, the competition organized the creation of various apps including robotics, gaming and mobile applications for computer science and engineering students at university level. About 1000 students from 45 universities and 10 colleges across the country participated in the event. The Gold Sponsor for this event was Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited.
Salman F. Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Advisor to the Prime Minister and Co-founder and Chairman of Beximco Group was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Freedom Fighter Lion Benajir Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU was present as the Special Guest. Pro-Vice Chancellor of NSU, Prof Dr M Ismail Hossain presided over the program.
Salman F. Rahman congratulated all the winners and organizers of Technovation 2.0 and said, “Technology has always been very close to my heart. When I heard that competitions of such a large-scale amassing 45 universities took place, I was very excited to come. We have been working to incorporate coding into primary school, so that students become expert programmers by the time they reach secondary school. I think these initiatives are incredibly important to meet the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”
Benajir Ahmed said, “I’ve always been enthusiastic about the progress of technology. This event once again shows us that we have come a long way and we have the potential to do more”.
Among others, MahbubulAlam, Managing Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd, Deans of different schools, Directors of various departments, Department Heads, senior officials, teachers and students were also present during the program.
