Islamic spiritual hub of Maizbhandar celebrated the Eid-e-Miladunnabi staging a huge rally and colourful procession with its incumbent leader Syed Saifuddin Ahmed reminding all of Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) teachings of interfaith harmony, manifested in the Medina Charter.
“Our Prophet’s ideals of social peace and interfaith harmony were reflected in the Medina Charter which also guaranteed the protection and honour of religious minorities,” he said this on Sunday while speaking at a Miladunnabi rally, joined by Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque as the chief guest, at Mirpur Bangla College premises.
The prophet’s ideals appeared universal for peace in society and individual’s life. The minister echoed Ahmed in his speech saying efforts were underway to create a national crisis through militancy and appreciated the Islamic scholars for their role to prevent the evil forces.
“Let us take the oath coinciding with the anniversary of advent of Prophet (Mohammad (PBUH) to prevent terrorism, militancy and communalism,” Haque said.
He expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for saving the countrymen from an impending devastation which could have been caused by the cyclone “Bulbul”. The rally was followed by a street procession with colourful banners and festoons joined by tens of thousands of devotees seeking revival of Islamic spirit of harmony and coexistence of people of all faiths amid peace and amity.
