Political Advisor to the Prime Minister HT Imam urged teachers to dedicate themselves to groom children as worthy citizen through providing quality education.
“Children are future of a country. So they should be given proper education to move the country ahead,” he told a function organized on Friday by Bangladesh Government Primary Teachers Association in the auditorium of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh here. Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman, lawmaker Fazilatun Nesa Indira, primary and mass education secretary Akhtar Hossain and director general of Directorate of Primary Education Shamal Kanti Ghosh, among others, addressed the function with president of the teachers association Abdul Awal Talukdar in the chair.
Imam said the present government has set a target to turn the country into a middle income nation by 2021. The government is working with utmost sincerity to fulfill the target, he added. The teachers community can contribute to nation-building activities by performing their duties properly, he added. Mostafizur Rahman said primary education sector witnessed a notable success during the last five years. “We are giving a special attention to primary education to improve overall standard of education,” he added.
“We have achieved nearly hundred percent student enrolment and dropout rate has significantly reduced,” he added. Mostifizur said challenges before the country are to improve quality of education to cope with the competitive world.
