A day-long teachers’ training/workshop on ‘Ethics Education’ – the first ever of its kind – was recently held at Hazrat Shah Ai Model High School at Mirpur in the capital. The objectives of the training were to brief the teachers about quality education, humanity, moral values and ethical codes in our daily life which they will impart to the students of their school.
Divided into different thematic areas, the training projected the relationships between law and ethics, religion and ethics, education and ethics, environment and ethics, livelihood and ethics and ethics in daily life. The sessions were conducted by former Chairman of Human Rights Commission Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman, Associate Prof of Daffodil International University Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, Principal Sheikh Saeed Ali, Senior Journalist Chinmoy Mutsuddi and Saifuzzaman Rana and Kazi Ali Reza of the Center for Ethics Education.
A special ‘Ethics Diary’ for the students, developed by the Center for Ethics Education, and a manual for the teachers were also introduced in the workshop. The teachers pledged to conduct ethics sessions in their respective classes based on the knowledge received from the training.
Organized jointly by the Center for Ethics Education (CEE) and Hazrat Shah Ali Model High School, the training/workshop was attended by all the 38 teachers including the headmaster MA Hamid and the President of the SMC Mia Md Lutfur Rahman of the school. The Center for Ethics Education (CEE) is a joint venture of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) and the North American Bangladeshi Islamic Community (NABIC).
