Commemorating the martyrdom of former Chemistry department teacher of Rajshahi University (RU) Prof Dr Shamsuzzaoha, the Teachers’ Day was observed on the campus on Saturday with due respect.
The day’s programme began with hoisting black flags atop the university administrative buildings and other academic buildings at sunrise.
RU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Pro vice chancellor Prof Dr Anada Kuamr Saha, Treasurer Prof Dr AHM Mostafuzur Rahman, Acting Register Prof Dr MA Bari, Public Relation Officer Prof Dr Provash Kumar Karmaker and other top officials and teachers of the university placed floral wreath at the grave of Prof Shamsuzzoha in front of university administrative building at 6:45am. They observed one-minute silence there.
Later, different residential halls including Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Hall, different departments, political and socio-cultural organizations of the university placed floral wreaths at grave of the Shaheed teacher from 7:00am to 8:00am.
Besides, several rallies were brought out on the campus to mark the day till 10:00am.
