Teacher assaulted by colleagues in city

Guardians demand Principal's resignation

Mallik Amirul Islam, an assistant teacher of Ideal School and College at Motijheel in the city was allegedly physically assaulted by his some colleagues at the Principal’s room on Friday.
 “They not only assaulted me physically but also issued death threat in presence of the Principal. My colleagues asked me to quit the institution immediately otherwise they will kill me. If I want to continue my job, they will expel me,”
Mallik Amirul, assistant teacher of the institution’s Banasri Branch told police.
Amirul Islam filed a General Diary with the Motijheel Police Station in this connection on Friday.
“As my Principal Shahanara Begum asked me to meet at her office on Friday, as soon as I entered there the Principal accused me of fuelling the ongoing guardians’ movement against rising of tuition fees. The principal also accused me of providing information to the media about the fake certificate of a teacher,” he was quoted as saying.
 “But I protested the allegations brought against me and requested her (Principal) not to carry on it. At one stage, Headmaster of Banasri Branch Shahadat Hossain, Assistant Headmasters Kalim Morshed and Jahangir Hossain, Assistant Headmaster of Motijheel branch Mofazzel Hossain and Assistant Headmaster of English Version Imam Hossain, Assistant Headmaster of Mugda Branch Bakiullah and teachers’ representative Rafiqul Islam started hurling abusive words at me. At one stage they hit me and I fell down on the room.”
Meanwhile, Ideal School and College Ovibhabok Forum (ISCOF) on Friday protested the assault of the teacher by some other teachers in presence of the Principal.
They also demanded immediate resignation of the principal and exemplary punishment to the assaulters.
ISCOF President Ziaul Kabir Dulu said it was very unfortunate and unexpected that a teacher was assaulted in the Principal’s room by his colleagues.
