UNB, Chittagong :
The weekly tea sale here on Tuesday was marked by a better tone in the market particularly for the cleaner teas on offer which generally appreciated, according to a market report.
Blenders were quite active along with a little more interest from the Loose tea buyers. However, plain poor teas suffered heavy withdrawals.
Good liquoring Dusts met with some competition.
CTC LEAF: 26,248 packages of teas on offer met with a fairly good demand.
BROKENS: All BOPs were a little easier particularly the plainer varieties which declined by up to Tk 5/-. However, the cleaner smaller grades were well sought after and readily sold at firm to dearer rates. These could be quoted between Tk 195/- and Tk 205/-. Poor fibrous teas met with only a fair demand but there were quite heavy withdrawals.
FANNINGS: A small weight of good liquoring Fannings were a stronger market and were dearer often by up to Tk 5/- and more and these sold between Tk 200/- and Tk 210/-. Medium types eased slightly whilst the plainest were often difficult of sale with fair withdrawals in this category.
CTC DUST: 4,847 packages of tea on offer continued to meet with a fairly good demand. Good liquoring varieties were fully firm to dearer following competition. Others sold at around last levels. Plainest varieties were a lower market with some withdrawals. Blenders lent good support with fair interest from the Loose tea buyers.
