Some of the common skin sins we all commit, thanks to our always-on-the-go lifestyle, includes stress, poor diet and staying out in the sun without proper skin protection.
These invariably increase free radicals that lead to premature skin ageing and skin damage. Experts say that taking antioxidants can effectively prevent this and a common and easily available source is tea. Dr Rashmi Shetty, cosmetic physician says, “Simple green tea is passe. White tea, rhubarb tea, licorice tea and others are in.
These are packed with antioxidants and act as calming agents that are great for tired-looking, irritated and dehydrated skin.”
The normal dark teas have a high amount of tannin, and so can be dehydrating, she states.
Skincare professional V Karpagam says that dry and dull skin can get back its radiance with green tea moisturisers.
A few spoons of green tea can hydrate skin, reduce scar marks, prevent acne, soothe dry skin and also help get rid of a tan.
Tea sommelier Neetu Sarin says, “Green tea is anti-inflammatory and soothes skin. It also keeps skin stay youthful by preventing premature ageing.”
DIY body lotion Take half a bottle of glycerine, mix a few teaspoons of green tea and lemon juice. Add a few drops of rose and lavender essential oil. Use this on your body soon after a bath.
