Three persons arrested for their alleged involvement in selling Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB)’s edible oil, sugar and red lentil in the open market which were supposed to be sold on trucks at retail level.
Rapid Action Bangladesh (RAB) arrested them from Pallabi in the capital on Thursday night. At that time, RAB also seized 2,052 litres of edible oil (soyabean oil), 150kg of sugar and 100kg of red lentil from their possession.
The arrested were Abul Kashem, 53, Arman, 39, and Irfan, 21.
RAB-4’s senior assistant director Sajedul Islam said the arrested persons had long been selling TCB’s edible oil, sugar and red lentil in the black market. They used to collect TCB’s essential items on sacks from different areas in the capital and then sold those at different places.
