Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) started selling essential items in different parts of the country from Tuesday ahead of Ramzan.
On Tuesday noon TCB started selling sugar, red-pulses, soya bin oil at five points of the city through their appointed dealer on truck, said Anise Rahman, Barisal Depot in charge of TCB.
Each dealer could get 3 to 5 hundred kilos of those items for selling to the consumers at the rate of per Kg. sugar at Tk47, red lentil (mushurer dal) at Tk44 and edible soya bin oil at Tk85.
Per consumer could get 4 kg sugar, 2 kg pulses an 5 liters Soya bin oil and five days before starting Ramzan chickpea and dates would also be supplied, said the TCB official.
TCB dealers at district and upazila level will also start selling of these items as soon as possible, he added.
Due to lack of propagation and delay in starting activities, rush of consumers were less than previous year on the first day.
BSS from Rangpur reports: Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started selling essential commodities at fair price through its 360 authorised dealers in Rangpur division as elsewhere in the country.
Officials at Rangpur regional TCB office yesterday said the dealers are selling sugar at Tk 47 per kg, ‘Chhola’ at Tk 60 per kg, bottled soybean oil at Tk 85 per litre, lentil Tk 44 per kg and ‘Date’ at Tk 135 per kg under the programme.
“The government is selling essential commodities among people aiming at keeping prices of those under control during the holy month of Ramzan,” Rangpur Regional Office Chief of TCB Md. Shujauddowla said.
He said a total of 360 TCB dealers have been appointed for selling essentials in all eight districts of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Gaibandha and Lalmonirhat in Rangpur division. Of them, 135 TCB authorised dealers are selling the commodities in Rangpur district including 96 dealers in Rangpur city.
“Five dealers are selling 500 litres of soybean, 400 kg of sugar, 300 kg of lentil and other commodities daily using mobile trucks at Press Club premises, City Bhaban, DC Office, CO Bazaar/Lalbag Bazar and Mahiganj Satmatha points,” Shujauddowla said.
Every citizen can purchase 4 kg sugar, 5 kg ‘chhola’, 4 kg lentil, five-litres bottled soybean oil and 1 kg date from the mobile trucks or TCB approved dealers from their city, district and upazila level sales centres.
“The district and upazila administrations and regional officers of TCB are monitoring the open market sales of essential commodities and selling by the approved dealers in all eights districts in Rangpur division,” he added.

DC of Rangpur Enamul Habib yesterday inaugurated selling of essential commodities in Rangpur district at a simple function held on his office premises in the city.
Deputy Director (Local Government) Ruhul Amin Mian, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-General) Syed Enamul Kabir and TCB dealers attended the function. After purchasing sugar, ‘chhola’, lentil and bottles soybean oil at fair price yesterday from a TCB approved dealer here, housewife Marjina and Azizul thanked the government for selling of the commodities ahead of the month of holy Ramzan.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started selling essentials in open markets in the city and all eight districts under Rajshahi division for keeping the essentials’ prices stable ahead of the upcoming holy month of Ramzan.
The state-run trading organization started the selling at five important city points- Shaheb Bazar Zero Point, Bhadra crossing, Railway Gate crossing, Nawdapara crossing and Luxmipur Crossing-using five trucks on Tuesday like other parts in the country.
Besides, 78 dealers in Rajshahi city and 308 others in eight districts have started selling the essential commodities among the public in general.
Large number of people was seen purchasing goods from the trucks standing on long queue.
Talking to BSS here yesterday, Abdus Salam, who came for buying TCB goods at Railway Gate area, terms the government initiative as good. This step willbenefit many low-income group people.
The dealers are selling sugar at Tk 47 per kg, edible oil at Tk 85 per liter and lentil at Tk44 per kg.
Talking to BSS, Protap Kumar, TCB Regional Officer, said that they have started selling different types of consumer goods including lentil, edible
oil and sugar at fixed prices through the appointed dealers in the district including 78 in the city.
Grams and dates will be brought under selling activities from before five days of the holy month of Ramadan.
He said 1,400 kilograms of consumer goods including 500 kilograms of sugar and edible oil each and 400 kilograms of have been allocated for selling every day excepting Friday and Saturday.
The City Corporation and respective district administration will continue regular monitoring side by side with the TCB authorities to prevent any sort of irregularity and mismanagement in selling goods.
Protap Kumar says 386 dealers were appointed for selling goods in the division. Of them, 26 for each of the district headquarters and 78 for the city corporation areas were appointed. Only five of the appointed dealers were allowed to sell TCB goods on trucks and the rest 73 can sell goods in their respective shops across the city.
For benefits of the people, the selling activities will continue till the last Ramadan, he added.
