Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start selling of five daily essentials – soybean oil, sugar, red lentil, grams, and dates- from May 6 across the country for the convenience of people ahead of the holy month of Ramzan.
The essentials will be available at 10 TCB sale-centers, 2,784 dealers and 184 truck-mounted sale stations across the country, TCB spokesperson Md Humayun Kabir told UNB on Thursday. Of the 184 truck sale points, 32 will be stationed at different points in the capital, 10 in Chattogram and five each in remaining divisional cities and two in each district towns, he added.
Replying to a query, Humayun Kabir said, people can buy the five essential commodities on five days a week except Friday and Saturday. He said a consumer can buy highest 4 kgs of sugar (local), 4 kgs of lentil, 5 litres of soybean oil, 5 kgs of grams and one kg of dates from the truck, dealer or TCB sale-center. Each litre of soybean oil would be sold at Tk 85 while Tk 55 is fixed for each kg of sugar, Tk 55 for lentil, Tk 70 for gram and Tk 120 for each kilogramme of date. TCB would allocate for daily sale 300-400kgs of sugar, 300-400kgs of lentil, 300-400kgs of gram, 30-50kgs of date
and 300-400 litres of soybean oil to a truck. Each dealer can get daily allocation of 500-700kgs of sugar, 300-600kgs of lentil, 500-700kgs of gram, and 300-500 litres of soybean oil. However, quantity of the allocation of date is yet to be finalised.
Replying to a question, the spokesperson said TCB will release the five Ramzan essentials for the dealers in three phases. The first installment will be released on May 6, the second installment in 2nd week of May, while the third installment will be released in the middle of Ramzan, Humayun Kabir said.
