All the open market selling points of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) in the city drew huge crowd as the month of Ramadan began amidst volatile market price of essentials.
According to consumers people thronged the TCB selling centres as demand of the state owned enterprise is selling good quality goods in comparatively low price.
Regional head of TCB Protap Kumar told BSS that they are selling sugar, edible oil, lentil, gram and date at Saheb Bazar, Gourhanga Railway gate, Laxmipur, Bhadra and Nawdapara Bazar.
TCB is selling essentials in open markets in all eight districts under Rajshahi division for keeping the essentials’ prices stable during the holy month of Ramadan.
TCB deputed 78 dealers in Rajshahi city and 308 in eight districts for selling essential commodities. Dealers are selling sugar at Taka 47 per kg, edible oil at Taka 85 per liter, gram at Taka 60 per kg, date at Taka 135 per kg and lentil at Taka 44 per kg.
Talking to BSS Nomanul Islam, a buyer at Luxmipur commended the government initiative saying such step will benefit low-income group.
In addition to the TCB authorities, City Corporation and respective district administration are monitoring the selling process to prevent any sort of irregularity and mismanagement.
TCB will continue selling of essentials items during the whole month of Ramadan, officials said.
