Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) launches open truck sale of essential commodities ahead of Ramazan n in the port city from yesterday.
The prices of these essential items including chola and sugar witnessed comparatively low price than the existing market price. On first day of the sale , consumers seen rush at the m obile trucks located in different city areas. Chief Executive of TCB, Chitagong Md. Sujadowla told The New Nation that as per our earlier announcement, 10 trucks have been deployed in main city points with the essential commodities . The locations of the trucks are – DC office premises, customs road, Tigerpass crossing, Agrabad area, CGO building, Alankar crossing, Nasirabad Purbokone office premises, Solasahar No.2 gate, Jamal Khan press club square and CEPZ crossing.
The open truck sale begins in the morning at about 10.30 pm . Sources said prices of chola fixed at Tk.70, Sugar Tk.48, lintel Tk.90 , Soyaben pet bottle Tk.80 per liter .
TCB sources said each trucks carrying 400 kgs sugar, 200 kgs lintel, 400 liters soyaben and 400-500 kgs chola for open market sale. A consumer at Jamal khan point told this correspondent that the supply of these commodities is not enough according to population of the city and one truck commodities will be sold out within 2 to 3 hours. Consumers opined ,
TCB should increase the supply volume and numbers of trucks for more city points . Conscious circles observed Food Department should also take immediate measures to sale these type of essential commodities during Ramazan in rural areas through mobile vans and existing food dealers .
TCB should gear up such open market measures in the Upazila and Pourashava headquarters across the country , conscious quarters added.
