Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court on Thursday granted bail to the Tazreen Fashions Chairman Mahmuda Akhter Mita on a bond of Tk 20,000 in the much talked case filed in connection with the Tazreen fire.Dhaka District and Sessions Judge Md Abdul Majid passed the orderafter hearing on the bail pleas. The bail hearing was held in the court at 10.30 am. Defence lawyer Md Golam Gaus filed a fresh bail petition on behalf of Mahmuda Akhter. On February 9, Delwar Hossain and his wife Mahmuda Akhter Mita were sent to jail after the court has rejected their bail plea.On February 11, Dhaka’s Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Ismail Hossain rejected the bail petition of Tazreen Managing Director (MD) Delwar Hossain but gave Mahmuda one month’s bail on condition.On March 20, the court cancelled the bail granted to Mahmuda Akhter and ordered her to appear before the subordinate court within 15 days. Later on April 3, the court sent Mita to jail after she surrendered to the court.At least 112 workers were killed in the tragic fire at the Tazreen Fashions Limited at Nishintapur in Ashulia on the outskirts of the capital on November 24, 2012 and a case was filed with Ashulia Police Station on November 25 against the owner, managing director of the factory and others. Later the case was transferred to CID.On December 22 last year, police submitted charge sheet against 13 people, including the Chairman and MD of Tazreen Fashions in the case.
