Taxpayers rushing to tax fairs across the country

The enthusiastic taxpayers are rushing to the Income Tax Fairs-2019 now being held at the divisionals and district headquarters across the country.
In the first three days at the weeklong income tax fair, a total of Taka 1,064.23 crore was collected as revenue income and a total of 2,21,649 people submitted their income tax return while 6,76,382 people received different services, according to the data of National Board of Revenue (NBR).
NBR Member and Coordinator of the Income Tax Fair Kalipada Halder said that presence of income tax payers have increased so far at the fair compared to the previous year.
Taxpayers have expressed their satisfaction after getting required services at the fair, he added.
Tax Commissioner of Khulna Zone Proshanto Kumar Roy said, “Some 6,380 eligible citizens submitted their return forms and paid over Taka 2.91 crore as income taxes in past three days till Saturday last at these Income Tax Fairs.”
At the same time, 17,202 tax payers have already taken various services and suggestions from the income tax officials and 306 new tax payers registered their new 272 TIN numbers in these fairs till Saturday.
Proshanto said Income Tax Fairs are being arranged to inspire eligible citizens for spontaneous payment of income taxes availing various facilities being provided by NBR and assistance of income tax officials in a hassle-free manner.
He expressed satisfaction over increasing number of rushing taxpayers to the fairs and taking assistance from income tax officials on income tax and calculation of income taxes and filling out income tax return forms to pay income taxes easily in these fairs.
Meanwhile, officials at the Tax Commissioner of Taxes Zone-Rangpur said, “Some 9,290 taxpayers submitted return forms and paid Taka 3.54 crore as income taxes till Saturday at these fairs.”
