Anti corruption Commission (ACC) team of Chittagong rounded up one Income Tax officer alongwith bribe money of Tk.20 thousand yesterday afternoon. Tax officer Jahid Iqbal is the Head Assistant of Chittagong Taxes Zone-4
He was arrested from his office acting on secret information, ACC team conducted raid at about 12 noon yesterday. Director of ACC, Azizuddin Bhuyia confirmed the arrest of tax official alongwith bribe money.
Departmental actions will be taken against the tax officer, soruces said. Tax official was handed over to Double Mooring thana immediately. ACC official told that the said official demanded bribe from a Sub Asstt Enginer of T&T Board for issuing demand note after tax assessment file with some unfair advantages to the T&T engineer.
This information apprised to ACC and caught the tax official redhanded while the bribe money is being handed over to Jahid Iqbal.
