Tax fair ends Tk 1675.31 cr netted

The country’s 5th tax fair ended on Monday with huge respond of taxpayers. National Board of Revenue has netted worth Tk 1675.31 crore from the five days’ tax fair, which is 49.98 per cent higher than the last year and the highest since the inception of the event in 2010.
The fair was started on September 16 at 13 places – seven divisional headquarters and six districts — to provide tax-related assistance to taxpayers.
Expressing pleasure NBR member (tax administration) Md Bashir Uddin Ahmed said “Such a spontaneous response was beyond our expectation.”
On the concluding day, 104,552 people took tax-related service that was the highest service in a single day while 3,066 fresh taxpayers also registered themselves. e- TIN was renewed to 1640 taxpayers and 34,539 tax returns were submitted. Revenue about Tk 359.83 crore was also earned in the last day.
Around 6.49 lakh taxpayers received services from the week-long fair which is 27.25 per cent more than the last year. The NBR collected Tk 1,117 crore from the show last year. The fair allows taxpayers to get answers to their queries, taxpayer identification number (TIN) online, submit tax returns and pay tax on the spot.
The fair is aimed at creating awareness and encourage people to pay taxes by extending tax-related assistance to existing and potential taxpayers.
Despite a countrywide shutdown on the concluding day on Monday, the NBR concluded the fair across the country with much enthusiasm and peaceful environment.
