The posh markets of the city are flooded with contraband and tax evaded commodities . Govt is being deprived of huge govt duty from these fashionable items so came over in the markets through illegal ways evading govt duty.
On the other hand, Customs authority now much alert to seize these contraband goods including saree, kamiz, dopatta, lehanga etc .
These fashionable Eid commodities came over in the market through illegal way from the neighboring countries by evading govt duty . Meanwhile customs intelligence seized a consignment of duplex board from two importing house .
These duplex board released from the port through evading govt duty , sources said. It is learnt Port city Poly & Accessories Industries Ltd imported 191 tons duplex board under bond facilities which later sold out in open market for which govt is deprived of crores of taka as duty . Similary Pak One co of Chittagong and Akram Traders of Dhaka imported duplex board under bong facilities by depriving the huge govt duty.
Separate departmental cases are being lodged with the customs , sources said . Besides, local traders of posh markets on the occasion of Eid festival is procuring huge fashionable items through border smuggling groups from neighboring countries .
