From May 11 Cannes International Film Festival is going to kick off in Cannes, France. To attend the festival, popular Bangladeshi actor and director Tauquir Ahmed left Dhaka on May 8. In this festival, from Bangladesh Tauqir directed movie Oggatonama will take part.
Under the banner of commercial section of Cannes Film Festival, La Marche du Film category movies of different countries get the scope to be premiered worldwide. As a part of it, Tauqir’s Oggatonama is scheduled to be screened at Palace-i Hall on May 17.
Before leaving Dhaka Tauqir told this correspondent, “It is very necessary to present own country’s movie in global arena. It a platform for the filmmakers and I feel proud in this regard. I hope in future many movies of our country will get the scope to be screened in Cannes festival. I believe one day our movies will take place in the arena of world cinema.”
Along with Tauquir his wife Bipasha Hayat, Managing Director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor, Ibne Hasan Khan and Farhadur Reza Probal also went there.
Meanwhile, Tauquir’s Oggatonama also got the scope to contest in Independent Film Festival in Italy on May 21. To take part in this festival, Tauqir and Bipasha will go to Italy on May 19 and they will return to Bangladesh on May 24. After returning to Bangladesh he wants to release his movie, Oggatonama in Bangladesh in any suitable time, Tauqir said.
He also mentioned that after returning besides making Eid plays he will also work in Abul Hayat, Arif Khan, Sokal Ahmed and Shahadat Russell’s plays.
