M Shahadat Hossain Taslim, has been re-elected as the President of Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) swept full panel in biennial election.
Taslim got landslides victory bagging highest 650 vote as the panel leader of HAAB Sammilito Parishad while his rival candidate former president Abdus Sobhan Bhuiyan Hasan, panel leader of HAAB Democratic Oikyafront got only 79 votes. A total of 628, out of 1044 voters, cast their votes. Election Management Board Chairman Khondokar Sahmsul Alam on Thursday night announced the result at the Institute of Diploma Engineers of Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in the capital. The contestants in the elections were divided into two panels led by incumbent President M Shahadat Hossain Taslim and former president Abdus Sobhan Bhuiyan Hasan.
The day-long elections was held in a festive atmosphere from 9 am to 5 pm. Elections were also held in Chittagong-Sylhet at the same time. In the election, 28 central members and 13 members of Dhaka Regional Committee and 6 members of Chittagong Regional Committee were elected from the same panel.
Earlier, 6 members of Sylhet Regional Committee were elected unopposed.
