Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) gets new office bearers for next two years. Outgoing Secretary General of the organization Shahadat Hossain Taslim was elected president of the body while Faruque Ahmed Sarder of North-South Travels elected its new secretary general.
The newly elected executive committee members have elected the new leadership of the trade body of the Hajj agents on Thursday at its first meeting after the election. In the same meeting, the newly elected executive committee of Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet Zonal Committees were also elected.
Earlier on April 25 this year, the members of HAAB elected their new leaders in a day-long election. Around 600 voters out of 992 have exercised their democratic rights to elect their new leadership.
In the election, Shahadat Hossain Taslim’s HAAB Sammilito Forum clinched all posts of ECs of central and three zonal committees. Two other panels – HAAB Ganatantrik Oikya Front led by Aslam Khan and Sachetan HAAB Ganatantrik Forum led by Dr. Abdullah Al Naser – have also contested the election.
Other office bearers are- Senior Vice President Yakub Ali Sharafati, Vice Presidents ASM Ibrahim, Mohammad Shah Alam and Motahar Hossain, Joint Secretary Generals Fazlur Rahman, Mahmudul Haque Pearu and Jahirul Kabir Chowdhury Shiru, Finance Secretary Mufti Abdul Kader Mollah, Public Relations Secretary Mazharul Haque Bhuiyan and Cultural Secretary Muhammad Kafiluddin Sarker.
The executive committee members of the 27-member EC are- Mohammad Abu Taher, Mahbubur Rahman, Obaidur Rahman Hanif, Abu Saleh Razi Javed, Abul Hassan, Mufti Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Oliur Rahman, Zahid Alam, Ehsanul Karim, Akbar Ali, HM Ataur Rahman, Mohammad Mahmudul Haque, Mohammad Azizul Haque Dulal, Mohammad Abdul Karim and Toiyabur Rahman.
Besides, ASM Ibrahim of World Link Airways was elected chairman of Dhaka zonal committee while Fazlur Rahman of Modina Air Travels was elected its general secretary.
In the Chattogram zonal committee, Mohammad Shah Alam and Mahmudul Haque Pearu were elected president and secretary respectively while in Sylhet zonal committee, Motahar Hossain and Jahirul Kabir Chowdhury Shiru were elected president and secretary respectively.
