Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed of Bangladesh shone with cherry in the second innings against Zimbabwe on the fifth and final day of the lone Test match at Harare Sports Club Ground in Zimbabwe on Sunday. He captured four wickets in the space of 82 runs. He played a vital role to mop up Zimbabwe’s second innings and helped Bangladesh to win over Zimbabwe by 220 runs.
Taskin started his wicket taking on the final day as fifth-down Roy Kaia (0) was trapped leg before wicket by right-arm pacer when Zimbabwe’s score was 160 for the loss of six wickets.
Then wicketkeeper-batsman Rigis Chakabva (1) was bowled out by Taskin Ahmed when the hosts’ total was 164 for the loss of seven wickets.
Seventh-down Victor Nyauchi (10) was caught at the first slip by Shakib Al Hasan off Taskin Ahmed when the home side’s score was 198 for the loss of eight wickets.
Earlier, Taskin dismissed opener Milton Shumba (11) on the fourth day (Saturday) as Shumba was caught at the first slip by substitute Yasir Ali off the right-arm pacer when Zimbabwe’s score was just 15. He completed his superb spell as 24-4-82-4.
Taskin Ahmed took one wicket for 46 runs in the first innings. His only victim of the first innings was Roy Kaia (0) who was caught behind by wicketkeeper Liton Das off Taskin Ahmed.
It may be mentioned that Taskin Ahmed shone with the willow in the first innings. Number 10 Taskin Ahmed scored his career best 75 runs in the first innings. It was his maiden half-century in Test cricket. Taskin Ahmed hit 11 fours in his 135-ball patient innings. He stayed at the crease 225 minutes before he was bowled out by Milton Shumba. Taskin reached his 50-run landmark using 69 balls with eight shots across the ropes.
