Tarique Rahman has been served with a legal notice for calling Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a ‘Razakar’.
Md Momtaz Uddin, former secretary of the Supreme Court lawyer’s association, posted the letters to his mother BNP
Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s office on Wednesday. The letter threatened Rahman with legal action if he did not withdraw his remarks and apologise to the nation within seven days.
“You are not a matured politician and also have no knowledge of history even though you are the BNP’s senior vice chairman,” the letter said.
The legal notice says that the BNP leader distorted history and committed a ‘heinous act’.
Tarique, who is living in London since 2008, had been stirring up controversy over Bangladesh’s founding father for quite some time.
Several libel suits have been filed in different courts across Bangladesh over his statements.
On Dec 10, a Dhaka court had issued a warrant for his arrest in one such case.
