The BNP began second day of their nomination interview on Monday with its acting Chairman Tarique Rahman joined through video conference.
The party’s Parliamentary board started taking interview of nomination aspirants of Barishal division at 10:00am at BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office. Later Khulna division’s aspirants also joined the interview, said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
Joining the nomination board through video conference, Tarique Rahman asked the aspirants about their capability and their contributions to the party. Tarique’s participation in the BNP’s nomination process raised talks on Sunday. The ruling party has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against it. But the EC said it has nothing to do on it.
On the other hand, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam on Sunday said the ruling party has no right to interfere in their party’s interview process.
“They do not have any right to determine who will take interview of our party,” Mirza Fakhrul told journalists in the party chief’s Gulshan office.
BNP nomination board, comprising BNP standing committee members, joined the interview process.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Lt.General (rtd) Mahbubur Rahman, Jamiruddin Sircar, Mirza Abbas, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Kahosru Mahmud Chowdhury were present.
The nomination board will start the interview of Chattogram aspirants at 9:00am on Tuesday while that of Cumilla and Sylhet from 3:00pm the same day.
The interviews of Mymensingh aspirants will start on Wednesday at 9:00am while that of Dhaka and Faridpur division at 3:00pm the same day.
