Awami League Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman on Sunday said BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman held meeting with Pakistani intelligence agency ISI in London as he is hatching conspiracy to thwart the upcoming national elections.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also held meeting at Pakistani high commission in Dhaka, Rahman said.
The Awami League leader also said BNP has turned into a corporate party with nomination trade regarding the upcoming general polls.
“BNP is no longer a political party as it has become a corporate party by doing widespread nomination trade centring the upcoming general polls. The destruction which they carried out at BNP’s Gulshan office over nomination trade is a matter of embarrassment for me as a politician,” he said.
Rahman came up with the observations while addressing a press briefing held at Awami League president’s Dhanmandi political office this afternoon.
Awami League Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, organising secretaries Ahmed Hossain, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, BM Mozammel Haque, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Information and Research Secretary Adv. Afzal Hossain, Education and Human Resource Affairs Secretary Shamsunnahar Chapa, Health and Population Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, were present on the occasion, among others.
“BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed are the main perpetrators behind its nomination trade. They are carrying out the trade following orders of party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman. BNP leaders are to blame themselves for their downfall,” Rahman added.
Replying to a question on distribution of seats with Jatiya Party, the
Awami League joint general secretary said all disagreements with the ally
would be resolved soon.
