‘Tarique has to be brought back for trial’

Media Adviser to the Prime Minister Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, on Monday said initiative has to be taken to bring back Tarique Rahman to place him under trial for making derogatory remarks about the symbol of the national unity and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as well as distorting the country’s history.
“The people who are speaking against our national spirit and distorting the history staying abroad have to be brought back to the country and put them on trial,” he added.
The media adviser also urged the people of the country to stop the vicious move of distorting the history, making indecent comment against the Father of the Nation and spirit of the great liberation war as well as country’s independence.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a roundtable discussion at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity organized by the Daily Nabachetona.
Iqbal Sobhan said the people of the country under the leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are trying to transform Bangladesh into a middle income country imbued with the spirit of liberation war.
World University Vice Chancellor Professor Abdul Mannan, Bangladesh Peshajibi Somonnoy Parishad Secretary General Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, Daily Jugantor Acting Editor Saiful Alam and former Secretary of Bar Council Abdul Baten, among others, spoke at the roundtable with Daily Nabachetona Chief Editor Abu Naser in the chair.
